Body reshaping and Cellulite treatment with Radiofrequency (RF)
1. What is Radiofrequency (RF)?
Radiofrequency (RF) is the lowest strength waves in the
electromagnetic spectrum.
It is now possible through latest technology to apply RF
energy to the deeper layers of the skin (dermal and
sub-dermal areas) whilst making sure the skin above
(epidermis) is kept cooled and protected. The heat
generated in these areas causes tightening of the skin
through collagen restructuring. Also there is remodelling and
mobilisation of trapped fat in the area through increased
local blood circulation, as well as fibrous tissue
breakdown.
‘Accent’ Radiofrequency machine is used in our clinic. The same
machine is in use in Harrods and Harley Street Cosmetic
Clinics. The superior quality depends on the brand of the machine
and the powerful potency of its effect. By gently heating the skin, it promotes accelerated collagen production to tighten it.
2. How many treatments are needed?
6-10 treatments are often recommended. Time interval
between treatments can be one or two weeks.
3. Is this an alternative to general weight loss and slimming?
No it is not an alternative to weight loss or slimming. This
treatment works on trapped pockets of fat in areas like
under the chin, abdomen, bat wings, love handles , thighs
and any other areas of the body. It can also be used on the face, around the eyes, forehead or neck to tighten the skin like a
non invasive face lift.
It also works well if combined with slimming through diet,
medication , Smartlipo/ Vaser treatment or Plastic surgery.
If you have lost weight through any of these
treatments and it has left you with saggy or loose skin in any
area, Accent RF treatment will iron out the sagginess and make
the area smooth and tight again.
4. How long do the treatment effects take to wear off?
The effects may last from 12 to 18 months depending on
your lifestyle and diet. Maintenance course of treatments
may be needed after this.
5. What does it involve?
Patients undergo a consultation with our lady Doctor
who will explain more about how the treatment works,
the side effects which may occur, and the procedure
itself. A full medical history will be discussed. Clinical
photographs will be taken. Body
weight and tape measurements of the area will be
done. Consent forms will have to be signed.
6. How is the treatment applied?
The RF waves are applied through a hand piece in a
circular or linear movement on the surface of the skin.
Baby/massage oil will be applied to the area prior to treatment.
A thermometer is used to check skin temperature
during the course of the treatment. The idea is to raise
and maintain the local skin temperature above10 degree of normal,
during the entire treatment process.
7. What is the treatment sensation like?
It feels like a warm massage. As each individual`s
tolerance to warmth on the skin is different, reponses to
the sensation vary but it is generally well tolerated.
8. How soon will the effects be obvious?
Full effects are generally seen over 1-2 months. Slight
tightening of the skin may be visible soon after the
treatment.
9. Are there any instructions to follow while having the
course of treatments?
You should drink at least 2 litres of water a day during
treatment intervals in order to enhance your hydration
and help flush out the mobilised fat.
Aloe vera gel should be applied to the treatment area in
between treatment sessions to keep the area cool and
well moisturised.
10. How long will the treatment procedure take?
It may take anything from 30 minutes to 2 hours
depending on the treatment area.
11. What are the side effects
Some people find the machine uncomfortable but not
painful. Transient redness, swelling and mild bruising
may occur in treated area. Most people find it
quite relaxing.
12. Who should not have the treatment?
a) People with very sensitive skin and scarring problems
b) People with sensory disturbances of the skin
c) People with metal or electrical devices like metal hips,
heart valves, dental plates, pacemakers and such like, cannot be
treated. This is because the RF energy may heat up the
devices and also damage it.
13. How much does it cost?
Compared with Plastic Surgery, it is non invasive and a worthwhile investment in both time
and money-savings. Our prices are very competitive and we can beat any clinic on price by £50, based on a written quotation from that clinic.
